The MB Concept
Smile design guided by Visagism: a smile designed around who you are, never a template.
The Philosophy
What Is Visagism
Visagism takes its name from the French visage, meaning face. It is the art of designing a smile in harmony with a person’s facial features, personality and character, so the result looks unmistakably theirs, and completely natural.
The MB Concept is my method built on that philosophy. Every case begins with the person in front of me: their face, their expressions, the way they already speak and smile, not a template pulled off a shelf.
One Face, One Smile: The Four Temperaments
Rectangular
Strong
Choleric
Determined, objective, intense
Triangular
Dynamic
Sanguine
Extroverted, communicative, enthusiastic
Oval
Sensitive
Melancholic
Organized, meticulous, reflective
Square
Peaceful
Phlegmatic
Diplomatic, gentle, grounded
Most people carry more than one. Part of a Visagism consultation is working out which combination is yours, and how much of each to bring forward in your smile.
The Book
Smiles That Speak
Visagism changed how I saw every patient who sat in my chair, and eventually I wanted to put that philosophy into words. Smiles That Speak is my attempt to explain what a smile can carry: not just teeth, but identity.
Get The Book“I hope this book inspires readers to not just design better smiles, but to design stories, self-confidence and transformations that last far longer than enamel ever will.”
The Difference
How This Is Different
The Usual Way
A catalogue of shapes, chosen to flatter a photograph rather than a face. The same bright, uniform smile, largely regardless of who is wearing it.
The MB Concept
A smile designed around your face and a Visagism assessment of your character, refined into a digital mockup you review and approve before a single tooth is touched. Two people with identical dental issues can leave with entirely different smiles, because the design follows the person, not the problem.
The Journey
What’s Different About the Process
A standard veneer case moves from prep to placement in two visits. This is where the MB Concept adds steps most practices skip.
-
01
Consultation & Visagism Assessment
Beyond the usual exam, a guided assessment of your face and character, so the design has something to be built on besides your teeth.
-
02
Digital Mockup
Your face and photographs become a first design, refined into a physical model before any tooth is touched.
-
03
Live Mockup Experience
You wear the mockup out into daylight and conversation, and approve it, before committing to anything permanent.
-
04
Preparation & Placement
Only once you’ve approved the design does preparation begin, kept to the minimum each tooth needs, then bonded into place.
